Artist Comments: "Before anything else, I want to say that I'm glad to release this EP exactly 6 years after the release of my first album, named Epic Church, released on May, 5, 2010. Música do Império is a very different release. I had the thoughts for this project quite a time in my mind and finally I could work on it. The main idea for this project was to select interesting song from the time Brazil was an Empire and make versions for them in an Epic Church style. I must add that I expect some reluctance of some fans and followers, the ones who love the Futurepop and Synthpop style of Epic Church. I say that because I know that the result of Música do Império is something very unusual, even having a song which is originally a Choro (Brazilian folk music) but I hope people can enjoy the songs. This release is not an official music album, first because it's above all a History Project and second because the songs are short, what makes me consider the release an EP"
Track 01: O Guarany
Composer: Antônio Carlos Gomes
Style: Classical / Electronic
About: Carlos Gomes was one of the most famous Brazilian composers during the Empire, being recognised by names such as Verdi and Rossini. This theme Il Guarany (O Guarani) became again famous many years later being the introduction song for the radio broadcasting named A Voz do Brasil, during the times of the dictator Getúlio Vargas.
Lyrics: Instrumental
Track 02: Hino do Império do Brasil
Composer: Melody by Dom Pedro I and lyrics by Evaristo da Veiga
Style: Classical / Epic / Electronic
About: When Brazil became independent of Portugal, forming a new Empire, this song was adopted as national anthem.
Lyrics: Lyrics here
Track 03: Domine Jesu
Composer: José Maurício Nunes Garcia
Style: Classical / Gothic / Electronic
About: J.M.N. Garcia was a priest, an excellent composer and a Brazilian representative of the Classicism. I selected the song Domine Jesu because of it's atmosphere, power and Christian message. The song has short lyrics, but this version is instrumental.
Lyrics: Instrumental
Track 04: Lua Branca
Composer: Chiquinha Gonzaga
Style: Classical / Choro / Electronic
About: Choosing this song was a very bold move, since I would have to make it in Epic Church style. Chiquinha Gonzaga was a composer who helped to popularize the Choro in Brazil. Choro and its artists started to be part of the soundtrack for Carnival parties, which I particularly don't appreciate in any way, but despite being a choro, Lua Branca is a romantic ballad, what made me choose it, despite the challenge.
Track 05: O Baile Na Flor
Composer: Melody by Alberto Nepomuceno and lyrics by Castro Alves
Style: Classical / Electronic
About: O Baile na Flor is an enchanting song. When you listen to it it's possible to analyse its sequence and progress and see that the composer plays with the harmony of the voices, creating the impression of a dance. It was very fun to make a version for this composition.
Lyrics:
Febris a tocar.
E as breves falenas vão leves, serenas,
Em bando, girando, valsando, voando, no ar!
Track 06: Gloria In Excelsis Deo
Composer: Marcos António Portugal
Style: Classical / Electronic
About: Marcos Portugal was a famous Portuguese composer who came to Brazil and in Rio de Janeiro was part of the most noble class of musicians of the court. Gloria in Excelsis Deo is one of his religious compositions, part of Missa Breve.
Lyrics: Instrumental
Track 07: Lua Branca (instrumental)
About: An instrumental and more gothic version for track 04
Track 08: O Baile Na Flor (instrumental)
About: An instrumental version for track 05
Track 09: Hino do Império do Brasil (instrumental)
About: An instrumental version for track 02

Lyrics:
Oh!
Ai, por quem és, desce do céu… Oh! Lua branca,
Essa amargura do meu peito… Oh! Vem, arranca
Dá-me o luar da tua compaixão. Oh! Vem, por Deus, iluminar meu coração.
E quantas vezes lá no céu me aparecias a brilhar em noite calma e constelada
Ela partiu, me abandonou assim… Oh!
