ALBUM DESCRIPTION
When I first imagined this album I knew I would need some time and focus to produce it so at that time I archived the idea. The time passed and finally now I could materialise what before were just thoughts and intangible ideas. "Cristo Nostra Pasqua" is a selection of Christian songs of Pascha (Easter) from various branches of Christianity as Roman Catholic, Orthodox (Byzantine), Anglican, Protestant; Also in diverse languages. As it's common of this project, all songs have the "Epic Church" style, which is the merging of electronic music, classical music, 80's timbres and a Gothic touch.

TRACK 01: Χριστός Ανέστη - Hristos Anesti
Language:
Greek
Description: The Paschal troparion or Christos anesti (Greek: Χριστός ἀνέστη) is the characteristic troparion for the celebration of the Orthodox Pascha (Easter) in churches that follow the Byzantine Rite. Like most other troparia, it is a brief stanza often used as a refrain between the verses of a psalm, but is also used on its own. It is sung in the first plagal (or fifth) tone. Its author or date is unknown, but it is assumed to be older than the 6th century.

Lyrics:

Christós anésti ek nekrón,
thanáto thánaton patísas,
ké tís en tís mnímasi,
zoín charisámenos!

Christ is risen from the dead,
by death trampling death,
and to those in the tombs
granting life!

Cristo ressuscitou dos mortos,
pela morte vencendo a morte,
e para aos que estavam nas covas
dando vida!

Language:
Russian
Description: The Cherubikon (Greek: χερουβικόν) is the usual Cherubic Hymn (Greek: χερουβικὸς ὕμνος, Church Slavonic Херувімскаѧ пҍснь) sung at the Great Entrance of the Byzantine liturgy. The hymn symbolically incorporates those present at the liturgy into the presence of the angels gathered around God's throne.

Lyrics:

TRACK 07: Gelobt sei Gott im höchsten Thron

Description: "Gelobt sei Gott im höchsten Thron" (literally: Praised be God on highest throne) is a hymn for Easter in 20 stanzas in German by Michael Weiße, widely known with a later melody by Melchior Vulpius. Shortened, it is part of current Protestant and Catholic German hymnals.

TRACK 08: Christ The Lord Is Risen Today
Language: English
Description: "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today" is a Christian hymn associated with Easter. Most of the stanzas were written by Charles Wesley, and the hymn appeared under the title "Hymn for Easter Day" in Hymns and Sacred Poems by Charles and John Wesley in 1739. The hymn eventually became well known for the "Alleluia" sung as a melisma after each line, which was added by an unknown author, probably to fit the commonly used hymn tune, "Easter Hymn". It remains a traditional processional hymn on Easter Sunday.

Lyrics:
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

(instrumental synthesizer solo)

Alleluia!
Amen!

TRACK 09: Christ ist erstanden (Cristo Risusciti)
Language: Italian / German
Description: "Christ ist erstanden" (Christ is risen) is a German Easter hymn, and is possibly the oldest Christian liturgical German song. It has inspired music by composers such as Ludwig Senfl and Heinrich Schütz (from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries respectively) through to modern composers such as Oskar Gottlieb Blarr and Enjott Schneider, and has appeared in 45 hymnals, including the current German Catholic and Protestant hymnals. Translations and paraphrases include a version by Catherine Winkworth which has appeared in 231 hymnals. "Christ ist erstanden" also inspired Martin Luther to write "Christ lag in Todes Banden", deriving the melody from it.
The same melody was used for the Roman Catholic song "Cristo Risusciti" and this Epic Church version is a mashup of both the German and the Italian song.

Lyrics:
Cantate, o popoli, del regno umano,
Cristo sovrano!  Gloria al Signor!

Christ ist erstanden
von der Marter alle!
Des solln wir alle froh sein,
Christ soll unser Trost sein.
Kyrioleis.

Noi risorgiamo in te, Dio Salvatore,
Cristo Signore!  Gloria al Signor!

Wär er nicht erstanden,
so wär die Welt vergangen.
Seit daß er erstanden ist,
so freut sich alles, was da ist.
Kyrioleis.

Alleluja,
alleluja,
alleluja,
alleluja.
Kyrioleis.

Cristo risusciti in tutti i cuori.
Cristo si celebri, Cristo s'adori.
Gloria al Signor!

TRACK 10: Ninje Otpuščaješi (Lord, Now Lettest Thou Thy Servant Depart - Canticle Of Simeon)
Language: Croatian
Description: The song was composed by the Russian musician Alexander Arkhangelsky for the Orthodox Pascha Rite.  Alexander Andreyevich Arkhangelsky (Russian: Алекса́ндр Андре́евич Арха́нгельский) was born in 1846, in Staroye Tezikovo, Penza and died on 16 November 1924, in Prague.

Lyrics:
Nyne otpuščaješi raba Tvojego, Vladyko,
po glagolu Tvojemu s mirom:
jako videste oči moi spasenije Tvoje,
Eže jesi ugotoval pred licem vseh ljudej,
svet vo otkrovenije jazykov, i slavu ljudej Tvoih lzrailia.

TRACK 11: Ангел вопияше (An Angel Crying)
Language: Russian
Description: Ангел вопияше is a Pascha (Easter) song of the Orthodox (Byzantine) church. The melody was composed by Ф. Макаров and the author of this Pascha canon (lyrics) was John of Damascus (or John Damascene, Greek: Ἰωάννης ὁ Δαμασκηνός, romanized: Ioánnēs ho Damaskēnós. This saint, who lived at the turn of the 7th to the 8th century. He was a praised hymnmaker, theologian, philosopher and father of the Church. During the time of the iconoclastic heresy in Byzantium and the cruel persecution of the authorities against the admirers of the Orthodox icons, John Damascene zealously defended his positions.
The saint is known as the creator of the Octoechos (from the Greek: ἡ Ὀκτώηχος), a liturgical book with a system of eight voices (certain melodic turns), which alternately changed every week. This system was later adopted by the Russian Orthodox Church along with other Byzantine traditions. According to church tradition, this Pascha canon is sung in its entirety, without a reader, with its own special festive chant (melody) and is performed this way until the holiday is over.

Lyrics:
Church Slavonic

Artist Comments: "Before anything else, I want to say that I'm glad to release this EP exactly 6 years after the release of my first album, named Epic Church, released on May, 5, 2010. Música do Império is a very different release. I had the thoughts for this project quite a time in my mind and finally I could work on it. The main idea for this project was to select interesting song from the time Brazil was an Empire and make versions for them in an Epic Church style. I must add that I expect some reluctance of some fans and followers, the ones who love the Futurepop and Synthpop style of Epic Church. I say that because I know that the result of Música do Império is something very unusual, even having a song which is originally a Choro (Brazilian folk music) but I hope people can enjoy the songs. This release is not an official music album, first because it's above all a History Project and second because the songs are short, what makes me consider the release an EP"

Track 01: O Guarany

Composer: Antônio Carlos Gomes
Style: Classical / Electronic
About: Carlos Gomes was one of the most famous Brazilian composers during the Empire, being recognised by names such as Verdi and Rossini. This theme Il Guarany (O Guarani) became again famous many years later being the introduction song for the radio broadcasting named A Voz do Brasil, during the times of the dictator Getúlio Vargas.
Lyrics: Instrumental

Track 02: Hino do Império do Brasil

Composer: Melody by Dom Pedro I and lyrics by Evaristo da Veiga
Style: Classical / Epic / Electronic
About: When Brazil became independent of Portugal, forming a new Empire, this song was adopted as national anthem.
Lyrics: Lyrics here

Track 03: Domine Jesu
Composer: José Maurício Nunes Garcia
Style: Classical / Gothic / Electronic
About: J.M.N. Garcia was a priest, an excellent composer and a Brazilian representative of the Classicism. I selected the song Domine Jesu because of it's atmosphere, power and Christian message. The song has short lyrics, but this version is instrumental.
Lyrics: Instrumental

Track 04: Lua Branca

Composer: Chiquinha Gonzaga
Style: Classical / Choro / Electronic
About: Choosing this song was a very bold move, since I would have to make it in Epic Church style. Chiquinha Gonzaga was a composer who helped to popularize the Choro in Brazil. Choro and its artists started to be part of the soundtrack for Carnival parties, which I particularly don't appreciate in any way, but despite being a choro, Lua Branca is a romantic ballad, what made me choose it, despite the challenge.
Lyrics:
Oh!
Ai, por quem és, desce do céu… Oh! Lua branca,
Essa amargura do meu peito… Oh! Vem, arranca
Dá-me o luar da tua compaixão. Oh! Vem, por Deus, iluminar meu coração.
E quantas vezes lá no céu me aparecias a brilhar em noite calma e constelada
Ela partiu, me abandonou assim… Oh!

Track 05: O Baile Na Flor
Composer: Melody by Alberto Nepomuceno and lyrics by Castro Alves
Style: Classical / Electronic
About: O Baile na Flor is an enchanting song. When you listen to it it's possible to analyse its sequence and progress and see that the composer plays with the harmony of the voices, creating the impression of a dance. It was very fun to make a version for this composition.
Lyrics:
Febris a tocar.
E as breves falenas vão leves, serenas,
Em bando, girando, valsando, voando, no ar!

Track 06: Gloria In Excelsis Deo

Composer: Marcos António Portugal
Style: Classical / Electronic
About: Marcos Portugal was a famous Portuguese composer who came to Brazil and in Rio de Janeiro was part of the most noble class of musicians of the court. Gloria in Excelsis Deo is one of his religious compositions, part of Missa Breve.
Lyrics: Instrumental

Track 07: Lua Branca (instrumental)
About: An instrumental and more gothic version for track 04

Track 08: O Baile Na Flor (instrumental)
About: An instrumental version for track 05

Track 09: Hino do Império do Brasil (instrumental)

Date of Release: March 29, 2015
Genre: Electronic
Label: CYBER10
Language: English, French, Portuguese
Influences: Depeche Mode, Medieval Music, Apoptygma Berzerk, Eurotrance
Cover Art: Taken by the Romantic artist Anton Melbye, the art is named "Ships at the Sea" (1867)
Other details: The album was produced with very simple equipments and no pitch software were used for voices or back vocals, which were all recorded by Emerson Olaf. Voices or choir samples neither were used.
Artist Comments: "I consider this a simple album technically saying, but an album full of ideas replete with applied philosophy coming from a view of the world which take its roots on traditionalist conservatism. Regarding genre and style, the general result of Epic Church if one mix up all its songs would be a kind of medieval Depeche Mode in an Euro-Mix. The project might be placed on Synthpop or even Electro-Rock, maybe the so called Futurepop and there is still a less used tag named Medieval-Electro in which we would fit. Highborn Spirit is clearly an escape from the liberal modern world, a return to old values, at the same time not denying technology, because if we did so, we wouldn't be here on internet publishing electronic music."

Track 01: Benedicamus Domino
Composer: Anonymous (medieval)
Style: Medieval-Electro
Lyrics: Instrumental

Track 02: Memories and Dreams
Composer: Emerson Olaf
Style: Electro Rock
Lyrics:
Would the dreamer in you
Be proud of what you've done,
Be proud of what you are today?
Treasures of yesterday buried too deep
The real essence is now lost

-Chorus-
Memories, a reviving of the past, getting back to golden times
Remembrances of dreams to save us from despair
Memories and dreams

Welcome to a rotten world
Where vanity is the key
Where selfishness is the main rule
Empty minds, liberals
Heading to destruction
An inevitable collapse

Take us back to a world
Where values build a noble man
A light for tomorrow

Track 03: Counter-Revolutionary
Composer: Emerson Olaf
Style: Electro Rock
Lyrics:
All we say
All we do
Makes us what we are
A better choice
The hardest move
You have to sacrifice

The modern beast
Of selfishness
Lies and says you're free
But deep inside
You really know
The way you have to be

-Chorus-
All feelings in your heart
All memories that you've got
The gift you must hold dear
The existence
Of your soul

Trials to
Be alive
To fly against the wind
It is hard
To keep the fight
Opposite the world
Material thoughts
To break the faith
You ought to resist
The Truth is there for you
You know it

Track 04: Belle Qui Tiens Ma Vie
Composer: Thoinot Arbeau
Style: Medieval-Electro
Lyrics: (only the first verse of the original)
Belle qui tiens ma vie
Captive dans tes yeusse,
Qui m'as l’âme ravie
D'un sourire gracieusse,
Viens tôt me secourir
Ou me faudra mourir.(bis)

Track 05: Endlessly
Composer: Emerson Olaf
Style: Gothic Synthpop
Lyrics:
The World,
You feel
That you are set apart
nothing can heal
nothing satisfies
Your hopes
Your thoughts
Are always far away
Misplaced
Mistakes
All I see

-Chorus-
Endlessly
I will be
So distant in a dream
I might see
I might find
The destiny of my life
Then I'll raise
Then I'll feel
The joy of something new
It always
Will be with me

The fear
Has come
When solitude comes takes its place
The time you wish
You were taken away
There is no way
to adapt yourself to this world
believe, preserve your soul

Track 06: Strike The Viol
Composer: Henry Purcell
Style: Medieval-Electro
Lyrics: Instrumental

Track 07: Conquest
Composer: Emerson Olaf
Style: Electro Rock
Lyrics:
And then comes the invitation
Which would change his life forever
Invited to a journey to a new world
An enormous pain he felt while looking to his daughter's eyes
And he kissed his wife goodbye

-Chorus-
Brave men across the sea
For the glory of the nation
By the grace of God
We shall conquer the world

Countless days at the sea
Days of chants and fellowship
Days of fights and praying on his knees
From afar is seen a piece of land in green
Is this paradise or just a dream?

Track 08: Your Heart (Inverno)
Composer: Emerson Olaf
Style: Gothic Synthpop
Listen/Download:
Lyrics:
O anoitecer
O céu azul
A escurecer
E vem o frio
Acolher
A alma a
Perecer
Na solidão
Sem afeição
Do teu olhar
Sem atenção

O existir,
Sentir, sonhar
Já não é mais
Satisfação
Restando assim
Nada em mim
Que faça arder
O coração.
O inverno,
O anoitecer
E com o frio
Escurecer

Track 09: Voyage Through Space and Time
Composer: Emerson Olaf
Style: Electro Rock
Lyrics: Instrumental

CYBER10
[ENGLISH] CYBER10 is a net-label which publish bands and compilations always free-download and never for selling, so no money is involved in any way. The good side of no money involvement is that we can work with the bands we believe and therefore we proudly walk the contrary way of the mainstream.

Pindamonhangaba
[ENGLISH] Pindamonhangaba is a town in São Paulo but let's cut out the formality of other data and let's check some good and curious information about it, being the last one based in popular statements:

- Pindamonhangaba means "the place where hooks are made" or "where the river bends" in native indian language.

- Euterpe Music Corporation is the oldest marching band in continuous activity in the country.

- Pindamonhangaba must be highlighted in three important moments of History: In the Imperial times when the town served the empire with many guards, at the Paulista Revolution in 1932 when São Paulo bravely fought against all the country to defeat a dictator and during WWII when the town sent soldiers to fight the Nazis in Italy.

- Bertha Celeste Homem de Melo was a woman from Pindamomhangaba who wrote the official lyrics in Portuguese for the American song "Happy Birthday To You".

- During the WWII Pindamonhangaba ended up with a concentration camp for Germans of the ship Windhuk that was captured in Santos.

- Pindamonhangaba is better than Taubaté. ;)

CYBER10 Pindamonhangaba Metal
Pindamonhangaba have always been trying to keep a strong metal scene. Although it was already stronger in the past with Power/Heavy Metal bands and also Black Metal culture, it was possible to gather here seven songs that represent a little of the town. I must mention the curious fact that only the band Lumens is singing in Portuguese, all the others sing in English. This sequence goes to the Symphonic/Power Metal side also with Alternative/Gothic Metal and Hard Rock.
